Ronald Dewayne Horton's Obituary
Ronald Dewayne Horton, 56, of Leesville, Louisiana, but forever proud to call Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, home. Ronald passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with his health. Ronald was born on April 4, 1968, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Raymond Horton and Linda Reeves Horton.
Ronald was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church #2, where he faithfully served as a Deacon. He was proud to be a Pleasant Hill Eagle and often shared fond memories of his time on the basketball court, where he was known for his talent and passion for the game. After high school, Ronald continued his basketball journey, playing at Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana.
As a child, Ronald enjoyed the outdoors, spending time fishing, hunting, and playing basketball with family and friends.
Ronald and Shelia Spencer Horton shared six years of courtship before embarking on 36 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they explored life’s journey, embracing God’s blessings as one.
Fatherhood was one of his greatest joys. Ronald was his children’s biggest fan, always cheering them on with unwavering support and love. Ronald gregarious nature and sense of humor brought laughter and joy to everyone around him, leaving an unforgettable mark on his family, work, church, and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Linda Horton.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Shelia Spencer Horton of Leesville, Louisiana;
his sons, Randy Scott of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, and Demarcus Horton (Lawana) of Humble, Texas;
his cherished grandchildren, Reagan Scott, Bryton Scott, and Isaiah Horton;
his brother, Roderick Horton Sr. of Houston, Texas;
his sisters, Latanya Sam (Clarence) of Humble, Texas, and Lakeda Horton Sullivan (Anthony) of Onalaska, Washington; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large, loving extended family.
Ronald’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ronald acquired multiple nick names “Pooh” “Deer Meat “and
“Watermelon Man”
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville with Pastor John Williams officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Burial will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
