Funeral services for Ronald Matthew Gill, 65, of DeRidder, Louisiana, will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Lindsey Burns and Rev. George L. Glass, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be from 4 P.M., until 9 P.M., Monday, May 18, 2009, and from 9 A.M. until time of the service, Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Labby Memorial Funeral home in DeRidder. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Mr. Gill passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder and a graduate of DeRidder High School. He was a retired postal clerk with the U. S. Postal Service and a veteran of the U. S. Army. A member of the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, he also loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Ronny never met a stranger and enjoyed making people smile, and his morning coffee sessions with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kolean “Kokie” Johnson Gill of DeRidder, LA; sister, Patsy Ruth Gill Jarreau of Baker, LA; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, John and Phyllis Johnson, Rickey and Betty Cunningham, all of DeRidder, and Larry and Maggie Afeman of Hinston, LA;mother-in-law, Mrs. Ezell Johnson of DeRidder; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
