Roger Dale Midkiff's Obituary
Roger was born on September 19, 1950, in Winnifield, LA, to the late Vernie and Avis Fee Midkiff. At the age of 72, he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on March 20, 2023, surrounded by his family in Anacoco, LA.
His “Going Home Celebration” will be at the First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville, La. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM ,Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM in the church. Celebration will be officiated by Bro. Kenny Pennington, Bro. Mark Christian, Bro. Robin Fletcher and Bro. Arthur Richmond, JR.
Roger’s family was his pride and joy. He loved them beyond measure. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being on the water or in the woods. He passed this love onto his children and grandchildren. There were many laughs while sitting around campfires. He especially loved watching his grandkids play ball.
Roger was forced to retire from construction work due to his health, but he never forgot the many friends he made along the way or the places he visited.
There was much dancing and rejoicing on the streets of gold as he was welcomed home by those that went before him, his mother and father, mother-in-law, Mickie Willis Perkins, granddaughter, Shelbie Brown, brother, Vernie Clyde Midkiff, brothers-in-law, Bill Kennedy, Pete Smith and Wayne Cryer, nephews, Buster Cryer and Kelton Smith, as well as numerous family and friends.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memories are his beloved wife of 53 years, Patty, daughter Ginger (Rodney) Brown, son, Roger “Scooter” (Courtney) Midkiff, daughter, Destani (Todd) Thompson, grandchildren, Shawnee Brown, Kaylon (Rachel) Brown, Hunter (Madi), Keith, and Cadence Midkiff, Mason and Harmonie Thompson, great grandkids, Waylon, Weslinn and Adalinn (his Munchkin), sister, Carolyn Kennedy, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Midkiff, Bonnie (Kenny) Maines, Sharon Cryer, Cindy (James) Teasley, LeeAnn (Arthur) Richmond, Cheryl (Robin) Fletcher, brothers-in-law, JR (Karen) Willis, Donnie Willis, Ronnie Willis, Mackey (Gale) Willis and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Hunter Midkiff, Kaylon Brown, Lee Smith, Todd Duncan, Clay Sheppard, Robert Sumrall, Joe Fuller, honorary pallbearers are Keith Midkiff, Waylon Brown and brothers-in-law.
