Robert "Bobby" Allen Smith's Obituary
Funeral services for Robert “Bobby” Allen Smith, 81, of Deridder, will be held at 10:00 AM. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Gill officiating. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery. Services are entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Monday, March 27, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Bobby was born on February 17, 1942 in DeRidder, Louisiana to his late parents, Robert Hugh and Meva Marsh Smith. He passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Bobby spent most of his life as a homebuilder; he built many of the homes in this area. One of the projects he was most proud of was building the sanctuary and pulpit of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Every home he built was special to him and he took the time and attention to ensure that each place would be a lasting home for the families that would live there. Bobby also spent fifteen years working for the Beauregard Tax Assessors Office where he enjoyed working with the public. He was a farmer at heart and was always growing peas and corn that he would share with his neighbors. Bobby enjoyed being outdoors farming as well as hunting and fishing. He found great pleasure turkey hunting with special friends and taking his grandkids on hunting trips where the time spent together laughing and learning from PawPaw was more important than the hunt itself. Bobby and Sally made many wonderful memories together with their family and friends fishing and enjoying time at their camp on the Calcasieu River. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and making memories that would last forever.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Sally Smith of DeRidder, LA; son Michael Allen Smith & wife, Julie of Deridder, LA; daughters, Ann Smith Simmons of Loudon, TN and Becky Smith Efferson & husband, Roger of Harriman, TN; siblings, Bill Smith & wife, Sharon of Longville, LA and Nelwyn McKenzie & husband, Ronnie of Homer, LA; grandchildren, Courtney Nicole Loftin & husband, Nehemiah of DeRidder, LA, John Kade Simmons & wife Tricia of DeRidder, LA Katy Ann Smith & husband, Cruise of Harriman, TN, Rodney McKinney Efferson & wife Mara of Kingston, TN, Benjamin Allen Smith of DeRidder, LA, Ray Allen Effferson & wife Chloe of Nashville, TN and Meredith Jones & husband, Zack of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Ella, Cora, Luke, Kade, Cooper, Judah, Raelynn, Hayden, Maggie, Wren, River, K.P., Jack and coming soon Paityn and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
