Rich Buck. WOW, you really helped me to grow as a Soldier and person. Thank you :-) Rest in Peace Big Brother. I was brand new at Fort Polk. We played a lot of ceremonies together in The 5th Inf Div (M) Band. !!! You also invited me over to your house for Thanksgiving. That was very special, as I was young, single and away from home. Your home felt like home:-) Words cannot express my gratitude. Barb, Daniel & Emily, please accept me deepest condolences. GOD's blessings & comfort upon you all continually. You all are in my thoughts and most of all prayers. I'm a better person for know Rich Buck !!!
My thoughts are with the Buck Family. Like many others, I was fortunate enough to serve with Rich at Ft. Polk. I remember him has a genuinely good person that that was always ready with a joke. He will be missed.
Rich Buck was a true friend to all he knew! He was one of a kind! Outstanding Trumet player, Outstanding NCO, and Outstanding Dad!! Prayers for Barbara and the rest of his family.
My thoughts and prayers are with Barbara, Daniel and Emily and all of Rich's family. I remember his jokes and his service when we were in the choir at 1st United Methodist Church. He made countless repairs in the church - when something was discovered to be broken - he would fix it - quietly and with amazing skill. My family and I extend our heartfelt condolences.
My sympathies to Barbara and her family. Rich was one of a kind. In an army that could be brutal, Rich was an NCO and a friend that made life at Ft. Polk better. He was a great trumpet player, but an even better person. Thanks for sharing your home with younger soldiers. I remember "Buck burgers" and Rich was always quick with a funny quip and lightened the load for all. He will be sorely missed.-Tim Cernea
I've never met or even heard of Mr. Buck, but after reading his obituary, all I can say is 'what a man, and what a legacy.' May his family find comfort and peace in his passing.
My heartfelt condolences to Rich's family and friends. I served with Rich at Ft Polk in the 1980's. He was a total gentleman, leader, and musician. I always remember his coy sense of humor and wit. He was soft spoken, intellectual, charismatic, and a true NCO and leader of soldiers. I have very fond memories working and being around Rich. Rest in Peace my friend.
