Rhedia Mae Frances Smith Skiles' Obituary
Rhedia Mae Frances Smith Skiles was born on May 14, 1926, in Bernice, La., and went to her heavenly home on Nov. 4, 2020, in Pineville. La., surrounded by family. She married the love of her life, Logan Skiles, in Eldon, Mo. on Sept. 15, 1946, and they lived many places in their 49-year marriage.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Michael Skiles and wife Beverly of New Iberia, Martha Skiles Peloquin and husband Kenneth of Rusk, Texas; and Marion Skiles of Pineville. She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Michelle Skiles Brignac of Hernando, Miss.; Monica Skiles Hornsby of Lafayette; Marla Skiles Nichols of Iowa; Heath Peloquin of Shreveport; and Heather Peloquin McCoy of Tyler, TX. She was loved and cherished by her twelve great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rhedia was preceded in death by her husband, Logan Skiles; her parents B.C. Smith, Sr., and his wife, Emilee; four brothers: B.C. Smith, Jr., Bill Smith, James Smith, and Carter Smith; and two sisters: Thelma Smith Garris and Libby Smith Borden.
Rhedia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and Bible teacher, as she followed her pastor husband to several churches in Louisiana.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Steven Nichols, Lucius Hornsby, Kyle McCoy, Michael Brignac, Seth Brignac and Craig Cooley.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Dry Creek, La. Burial will be at Bernice Cemetery, Bernice, LA, after the service at approximately 4 p.m., under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church Nov. 6th, the evening before.
