Retired SFC James William Buchanan's Obituary
Funeral services for Retired SFC James William Buchanan, 82, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 11th from 5 pm - 9 pm, then Saturday, October 12th, from 9 am until service time in the chapel.
James, the son of Charles Ray and Eva Green Buchanan was born September 27, 1931, in Kokoma, IN. He passed away Wednesday, October 9th in Leesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Ray “Chuck” Buchanan.
James was raised on a farm and went on to join the United States Army where he retired as Sergeant First Class. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War; he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He enjoyed working on small electronics and had a small shop behind his house. He loved fishing and hunting.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma Buchanan of Anacoco; son, James Buchanan, Jr., & wife Kelly of Anacoco; daughters, Wilma Borders & husband, Pete of Hornbeck, Wanda Buchanan of Allen, NE, Eva Borders & husband, Dale of Anacoco and Ruthy Montalbano & husband, Mike of Many; aunt, Lillie Bronson of Kokoma, IN, brother, Albert Frances Buchanan & wife Etta Mae of Kokomo, IN; sisters, Ida Buchanan and Ruth Buchanan both of Kokoma, IN; thirteen grandchildren Amanda Borders of CA, Chris & Sheena Buchanan of Hornbeck, Cleveland Borders & Shannon Borders of Slagle, Angie & Damien Maddox of Anacoco Samantha & Chad Hall of Slagle, Nickie & Mikey D. Johnson of Anacoco, Katherine & Rhiannon Chapman of Allen, Nebraska, Christina Borders of Anacoco, Jessie Buchanan of Anacoco, Ashley, Brittany & Collin Montalbano of Many and nine great grandchildren.
