Reggy Ray Saunders, Sr.'s Obituary
Reggy Ray Saunders, Sr. entered peacefully into rest on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 14 days, at the West CalCam Cameron Hospital in Sulphur with his family by his side. Reggy was born on Sunday, February 22, 1948, in DeRidder, LA to Selby James and Clara Louise Taylor Saunders.
Funeral service for Reggy will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Hopewell Baptist Church in DeRidder. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in DeRidder with military honors. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Reggy served his country honorably in the Army. He worked at Fort Polk as a heavy equipment operator and with Brown and Root. He was a loving husband, dad, Pawpaw, and brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria Saunders of DeRidder; son, Reggy Saunders, Jr. and wife Kristin of DeRidder; daughter, Teresa Darnette Saunders of DeRidder; brother, Bobby Brown and Janie of Toledo Bend; sister, Selby Bayhi of DeRidder; grandchildren, David Ray Hancock, Klare Nicole Saunders, and Reggy Saunders, III; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Selby and Clara Saunders; brothers, Jim Saunders, and Glen Brown; sister Melba Kanoblauch.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Reggy Saunders, Jr., Casey Benton, David Hancock, Bert Doucet, Luis Mendez, and Jason Robinson.
