Rea Tate's Obituary
Funeral services for Rea Tate, 83, of Dry Creek, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Dry Creek, LA, with Rev. Dore’ Langley and Rev. Charlie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery, Dry Creek, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Tate passed from this life on Thursday, July 16, 2015, in Encore Health care and Rehabilitation Facility in Crowley, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015, from 6 P M until 9 P M at Dry Creek Baptist Church.
Born in Calhoun City, MS, to James E. and Sally J. Barker Sprayberry, on Friday, June 6, 1932, Rea had resided in Shreveport, LA, before settling in Dry Creek, LA, in 1980. She had formerly been owner/operator of three different restaurants, all named Driftwood Restaurant, the last being located outside DeRidder, LA. She had also been a cook at the Dry Creek Baptist Camp in Dry Creek, LA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by eight sons, William K. Tate (Susan) of Haughton, LA, Robert J Tate (Ann) of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth Tate (Susanna) of Mexico, James Klein of Kinder, LA, Gerald Klein (Pat) of Oberlin, LA, Alvin Klein (Margie) of Broussard, LA, Robert Klein (Debbie) of Kinder, LA, and Robert Klein (Shelia) of Dry Creek, LA; three daughters, Vickie Sue Shelton (Greg) of Iowa, Jane Gates (Stanley) of Rayne, LA, Dorothy LaFargue (Wayland) of Kinder, LA, and her “adopted” daughter Kathy Courmier (Dennis) of Dry Creek, LA; brother, James E. Sprayberry of Marshall, TX; thirty-four grandchildren and forty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Bill” Tate, second husband, Charles Klein, and sister, Mildred Owens. Her family would like to thank the staff of Encore Health Care and Rehabilitation Facility for their kindness and loving care given to Rea during the past few months.
