Raymond Anthony Marcello's Obituary
After a lengthy illness, Raymond Anthony Marcello passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 79.
A Memorial and Celebration of his Life will be on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Pastor Laraine Waughtal of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, which will also be at the funeral home.
Raymond was born on December 1, 1946. He grew up in DeRidder. His parents were Tony and Eleanor Marcello. He graduated from DeRidder High School in 1964 and continued his education at McNeese State University. Raymond worked for over 30 years as a Federal Civil Service employee at Ft. Polk. In his high school and college years, Raymond enjoyed art and painting. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DeRidder. Those who knew Raymond remember him as a kind and sensitive person. Even throughout his illness, Raymond kept his spirits high and maintained his faith.
Raymond leaves behind a family that loved him and will miss him dearly. His wife of 47 years, Gloria Watson Marcello; two daughters, Susan Marie Marcello Shafer and husband William, and Donna Renee Marcello, both of DeRidder; brother John Leonard Marcello and wife Nedra also from DeRidder; four grandchildren, Ericka Hutto, Cailie Hutto, Gabriel Marcello, and Andrew Miers; niece Monica Marcello Watkin and husband Scott, and host of cousins and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Eleanor Marcello, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Dovie Watson, his sister-in-law Melanie Marcello, and his brother-in-law Donnie Watson.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Chris Granger. They also appreciate the kind care and services provided by the staff at Rosepine Retirement and Rehab Center.
