Raulin Ramos Travis' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raulin Ramos Travis, who entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2026, at the age of 79.
Raulin was born on October 8, 1946, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to James and Elsie Travis. He was the oldest of three sons and shared a close bond with his brothers, Charles and Bartley Travis. He attended DeRidder High School and graduated with the Class of 1964 before continuing his education in welding at Sowela Technical Community College.
A proud patriot, Raulin served his country in the United States Army from January 1966 until December 1967, spending his military service in Germany and at Ft Polk. Following his military service, he was a welder for Brown & Root, and he helped with the construction of the Boise facility.
On February 28, 1969, Raulin married the love of his life, Dottie Belle Rector. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work, raising three children.
Raulin began his career with CLECO on September 30, 1970, serving as a lineman for 31 years before retiring on November 1, 2001. His strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to serving his community were evident throughout his career.
A faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Raulin was actively involved in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association and member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Maintenance Comittee, helping care for a place that meant so much to many families in the community. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener who found great joy in the outdoors. He also proudly served as Vice President of the South Bundick Hunting Club.
Nothing brought Raulin greater happiness than his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his wife of 57 years, Dottie Belle Travis; his children, Lora Andrepont, Clint Travis and wife Donna, and Ginger T. Clouse and husband Brad; and his 8 beloved grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who will forever cherish the lessons, laughter, and memories he shared with them.
Raulin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Babe and Grace Travis and Jesse and Mary Neider Moses; his parents, James and Elsie Travis; his brother, Charles Travis; sisters-in-law, Becky Travis and Barbara Travis; brother-in-law, Leroy Lange; and his in-laws, Jerome and Clarriece Rector.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with burial to follow under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Andrepont, Wesley Travis, Derek Andrepont, Grady Dockery, Marty Rector, and Thomas Rector.
Raulin will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, his service to his country and community, and the kindness and integrity that guided his life. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
