Rasberry Phillips' Obituary
Funeral services for Rasberry Phillips, 89, of DeRidder will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Dale Miller and REv. Doyle Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, LA. Visitation will be from 3 P.M. until 9 P.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2009, and from 9 A.M. until time of the service, Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the funeral home.
Mr. Rasberry passed away Monday, February 16, 2009, in DeRidder, LA. He was a native of Anacoco, LA, and had lived in Lake Charles, LA, for most of his life, moving to DeRidder nineteen years ago. He retired from Firestone in Sulphur, LA, after 25 years as an "A" Operator. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving with the 101st Airborne during WWII seeing action at Normandy and other parts of Central Europe. He loved fishing and playing the guitar and fiddle.
Mr. Phillips is survived by daughters, Pat McRae and husband Bill of DeRidder, Charlotte Strickland Brock and husband Charles of DeRidder, and Marsha Stailey and husband Ron of Brookhaven, MS; sister Leatha Bridges and husband Jerry of Florien, LA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charline Smith Phillips; son, Mike Phillips; grandsons, John Matthew Strickland and Caleb Phillips; parents, John Hardy and Daisy Starr Phillips; brothers, Fred Phillips and J. D. Phillips; sisters, Lottie Miller and Dorothy Jett.
