Randy Allen Bassett's Obituary
Randy Allen Bassett, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on November 7, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on March 23, 1957, in Oakdale, Louisiana to William Edward and Frances Cornelia Bassett (both deceased), Randy lived a life filled with love and laughter that touched everyone who knew him.
For nearly five decades, Randy shared his life with his devoted wife of 47 years Debbie Bassett of Anacoco, LA. Their bond was an inspiring testament to true partnership; together they navigated the joys and challenges of life while raising their two children. Randy took immense pride in being a father to Dan Charles Cochran of Gulfport, MS and Jan Borders of Atlanta, GA. He cherished every moment spent with them—whether it was sharing stories around the dinner table or embarking on family adventures.
Randy's warmth extended beyond his immediate family; he is survived by his loving brother Merle Edward Bassett of Leesville, LA as well as sisters Linda Nowell from Marshall, TX and Barbara McLaughlin from Graham, WA. His siblings remember him not only for his honesty but also for the fun-loving spirit that brought joy into their lives.
A man known for having a heart of gold and an infectious passion for life’s simple pleasures—Randy found solace in nature through fishing trips where he could unwind by the water's edge or enjoy thrilling rides on motorcycles across scenic routes. Hunting provided another avenue for adventure that he relished deeply. Yet perhaps no companionship meant more to him than that shared with Angel—the puppy who stole his heart—and Cookie who followed closely behind.
As a truck driver Randy spent time traveling cross country most of his life; enjoying the many places he traveled.
Though preceded in death by brothers William Earl Bassett and Michael G. Bassett along with both parents—a loss felt profoundly within the family—Randy leaves behind memories woven into the fabric of those who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville on Wednesday, November 13th at 2:00 P.M., officiated by Rev. Wesley S. Manning. Friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours scheduled for Wednesday, November 13th 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home before burial follows at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck.
As we gather to celebrate Randy’s remarkable journey through this world—a journey marked by kindnesses big and small—we hold tight to our cherished memories knowing that although he may have departed this earthly realm too soon; his spirit will forever remain alive within our hearts.
