Ralph D. McRae's Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Ralph D. McRae will be held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with the Rev’s Daniel Lowe and Ken Graham officiating.
Mr. McRae, a prominent Vernon Parish business man, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his residence in Leesville. He is survived by His widow, Dr. Billie Sims McRae, two Children, Ralph D. McRae Jr. of Leesville, and Virginia Lee Conner of Leesville. Seven Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
During World War II Mr. McRae served his country for four years as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. In 1945 he returned to Leesville where he became actively involved in civic and business affairs. His community contributions have included serving as an officer in the American Legion, the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Cattleman’s Association, the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
His business interests have included Shawson Gas Company, McRae Hereford Farm, McRae Construction Company, McRae Insurance Agency, The Holiday Inn, The McRae Lincoln, Ford, Toyota Dealership, and the Vernon Bank.
Visitation will be held at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville on Tuesday March 4, 2008 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Leesville.
