Funeral services for Pearl Shirley, 89, of DeRidder, Louisiana, will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 10:00a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder with Rev. Alan Knuckles officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Shirley passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, in a local nursing home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M., and Thursday, from 9 A.M. until time of the service at the church.
Mrs. Shirley was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder where she was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Pink Ladies at Beauregard Memorial Hospital and a member of the DeRidder Garden Club and Thursday Study Club.
She is survived by daughters Annette Shirley Johnson and Carolyn Shirley Jones and husband David, both of DeRidder, LA; five grandchildren, Angela Bowman, John Johnson, Allison Thomas, David Jones and Laura Haydon; and nine great grandchildren. The family requests donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder.
