Pauline Buxton's Obituary
With heartfelt sadness, we make known the passing of Pauline Marie Buxton, 92. She was an amazing woman whose life was a radiant example of love, strength, and selflessness. Pauline departed this world on January 21, 2025 surrounded by her family. She left behind a heritage that will be held dear to all her family and friends.
Born on Dec 11, 1932 in Damon Mount, Texas. Pauline was the beloved daughter of Jack and Macil Roe. She lived in Richmond, Texas during her childhood years. In 1945, her mother and siblings moved to Deridder, LA where her grandmother resided. At an early age is when she developed her strong, independent, caretaking personality. As she had to become a caretaker for her special needs older and younger sisters.
In 1946, she met the love of her life who quickly became her husband which she called sweetheart. The two wed on June 7, 1947. She started her new chapter of being a wife and mother as she gave birth to 6 children. She was an excellent caretaker of her mother, grandmother, stepfather, and sisters as she took in her baby sister after her mother’s passing.
For 49 ½ years she was a devoted wife to her forever sweetheart. In those years she found comfort in having flower gardens all in her yard to be seen by everyone, as she had a green thumb. She could nurture any plant back to life. When you would come to visit, you could always count on leaving with a flower or plant with instructions on how to exactly take care of it. She was a lifetime member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Her joy was when her grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit or stay the night. She loved to line them all up on a pallet on the floor close to their bedroom. She was quick to correct them and even liked to chase them with a house shoe.
In 2015, she started her last chapter at Rosepine Retirement Center where she carried her strong, motherly personality to the nurses, CNA’s, and residents.
At the heart of Pauline’s life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her 5 children: Edgar (Shirley) Buxton of Deridder, Terry (Loraine) Buxton of New Jersey, Mary (Albert) Wilson of Deridder, Paul (Sherry) Buxton of Deridder, and Liz (Paul) Cooper of Rosepine and grandchildren: Angie Buxton, Allen Buxton, Terry Buxton, Michael Wilson, Mindi Meadows, Vickie Price, Shane Buxton, Carrie McFarland, Misty Buxton, Steven Buxton, and Jason Cooper as well as 22 great grandchildren, and 39 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Buxton, her father, Jack Roe, Mother Macil Parker, stepfather, Floyd Parker, infant son Jerry Buxton, siblings Naomi Roe, Mary Parker, and Frank Roe.
The Buxton family would like to thank the Rosepine Retirement Center staff. A special thank you to Trevor, “Dr”, as well as to the staff of Heart of Hospice.
