Paula Gray Austin's Obituary
Paula Gray Austin, 44, of DeRidder, LA, passed away at 8:49 A.M., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in her residence in DeRidder, LA.
She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and had lived in DeRidder since 1988. She was a graduate of Denham Springs High School and also received her BS in Zoology from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder where she was an active member of the choir. She was also a member of the Concerns of Police Survivors, COPS, since the death of her first husband, Senior Trooper Stephen Gray, who was killed in the line of duty in 1995.
Paula’s funeral service will be at 10 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2008, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M., Friday, May 23, 2008, in the Labby Memorial Chapel. A rosary will also be held at the funeral home Friday, May 23, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Austin of DeRidder; two sons, Brian Herbert Gray and Adam Michael Gray both of DeRidder, LA; one brother, Michael Ray Buquoi of Arkansas; sister, Tammy Theresa Jackson of Denham Springs, LA; mother, Peggy Buquoi of Denham Springs, LA; and two grandchildren.
