Patricia Beckcom O'Brien's Obituary
Patricia Beckcom O’Brien, 68, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formally of DeRidder, passed from this life on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Lake Charles, LA.
She was born on Saturday, May 18, 1946, to Dr. Floyd and Inez Morrison Beckcom in DeRidder, LA. Patricia graduated from DeRidder High School in 1964 and attended McNeese State University where she met her husband and they were married 50 years. Patricia was a remarkable woman, wife and mother. She was a woman of many talents, more so than many of her closest friends and family realized. She was a master chef, specializing in Louisiana Cuisine; she was a gardener, electrician, plumber, carpenter, laid tile and carpet. She loved stitchery and quilting and made gifts for family and friends. Patricia was a former member of the Junior Women’s Club of DeRidder where she was chosen as woman of the year. She was instrumental in raising funds to build a teen center at West Park in DeRidder. She was a counselor at the Crisis Center Phone Line in DeRidder where she helped many people through their time of need. Patricia was appointed by the Mayor to the DeRidder recreation board as secretary. Anyone who became her friend became part of her family. God has a new angel.
She is survived her husband, Patrick O’Brien of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Michael “Mikey Troy” O’Brien of Port St. Luci, FL and a daughter, Kathleen O’Brien of Lake Charles, LA.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA with Father Jude Brunnert officiating. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
