Orellian Joseph Adams, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral Services for Orellian Joseph “O J” Adams, Sr., 74, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery, Dry Creek, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be from 5 P M until 9 P M Friday, June 13, 2014,and from 9 A M until time of the funeral service Saturday, June 14, 2013, all at the funeral home.
Mr. Adams was born in White Castle, LA on July 13, 1939, and passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 6:30 P M in Beauregard Memorial Hospital. “O. J.” was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, owner and operator of Marks Automotive and R & O Camper Sales. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and past Master of Little Flock Lodge 236, Portland Lodge 499 and a Shriner. He loved his family very much and was a friend to everyone and was loved by everyone that knew him. “O. J.” loved to hunt, travel with family and friends who loved him. He always wore his Mason buckle and ring proudly.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rita Gail Gee Adams; one son, Jody Adams and wife Lisa of DeRidder; two daughters, Nanette Swisher and husband Jerry of DeRidder, LA, and Cherie Motley and husband Richard of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Swisher and wife Courtney of DeRidder, Heather Clow and husband Clinten and Darrin Motley, all of Houston, Bradley Motley of Brenham, TX, Zachary Motley and wife Catherine of Winterport, Maine, Allie Adams Isbelle and husband Weston, Lanie Adams and Tanner Adams, all of DeRidder; and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Jarreau and Marilyn David; one brother, Edward Adams, Jr. and wife Janet, all of Port Allen, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Annette Adams. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Shriners Hospital or Dry Creek Baptist Encampment in honor of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and loving friend.
