Obie Sears Wingate's Obituary
Obie Sears Wingate, 92, of Pitkin, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Rosepine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. Obie the son of Minnie Sedonia Johnson and Russell Wingate was born on October 25, 1925 in Marlow, Louisiana.
Visitation will begin Friday, July 6, 2018, from 6 PM until 9 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM, in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. George Glass and Rev. Joey Ruddesell officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Marlow Cemetery, Marlow Louisiana.
Obie was a native and lifelong resident of Marlow, LA. Graduate of Rosepine High School. Retired from the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries where he was a Game Warden. He was a member of Marlow Baptist Church. He loved to fish and hunt.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Landry Reid Wingate and wife, Kitty of Marlow, LA.; two daughters, Mary Virginia Wingate of DeRidder, LA.; Diana Hickman of Hemphill, TX.; brother, Glen Wingate of Houston, TX.; sister, Farah Olene Newman of Clayton, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thelma Wingate.
