Nordahl Schroeder's Obituary
Funeral services for Nordahl Schroeder, 83, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 27, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of DeRidder, LA with Dr. Wayne Evans and Rev. Bob Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, December 26 2013, at the funeral home.
Nordahl, the son of Minnie Ostlie Schroeder and Frederick A. Schroeder, was born on August 21, 1930, in Appleton, MN. Nordahl attended Morehead State Teachers College where he majored in Choral Music. He then served in the United States Air force for 3 years where he ended his service at Chennault in Lake Charles, LA. He settled in Sulphur and worked for 30 years at Himont Industries where he later retired. He married Wanda Dees, where together, “They Did it Their Way”, by fishing every moment they could together. Nordahl loved singing as tenor for many years in his church choir. He passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013, in DeRidder, LA with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wanda Dees Schroeder of DeRidder, LA;
1 son, George A. Schroeder of Glendale, AZ; 1 daughter, Lynet Dunn and husband Lance of Houston, TX; 3 stepdaughters, Patricia Credeur and husband Jeff of Welch, LA, Janet LaBiche and husband Scott of Lake Charles, LA and Licia Kleinpeter and husband David of DeRidder, LA; 1 sister, Eleanore Koosman and husband Myron of Appleton, MN; 1 sister-in-law, Clarice Schroeder of Appleton, MN; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Verna Wilson and Dorothy Appleholm and 1 brother, Wallace Schroeder.
