Myrtle Maurice Thigpen's Obituary
Funeral services for Maurice Thigpen, 75, of Leesville, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service in the chapel.
Maurice was born on July 31, 1947, in Pitkin, LA to her parents, LeRoy Stafford and Myrtle Kemp. She passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA.
Maurice graduated from Leesville High School in 1966 and worked various jobs until she began working as a cook for Pickering High School in 1975 and she remained until her retirement in 2005. She loved flowers and birds and enjoyed spending time outside surrounded by both. Maurice loved her family and friends, many referred to her as their second mom and she enjoyed spending time and making memories with those she loved.
Maurice is preceded in death by her father: LeRoy Stafford; Mother: Myrtle Campbell; Siblings: Tommy Stafford, Addie Laverne Horger, Cora Mae Lafosse.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband: Jerry Thigpen of Leesville; Children: Robert Thigpen of Leesville, Terry DeMuth and husband, Gabriel of Jackson Springs, North Carolina; Grandson: Dorian DeMuth and wife, Ashleigh of El Paso, Texas; Half Brother: Tommy Frasier of Gardner, LA ; Fur Baby: Bo and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
