Myra Thibodeaux's Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Myra C. Thibodeaux will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016 in the Palestine Baptist Church in Grant, LA with Rev’s Hardy Estes and Dore Langley officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20th and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Sunday in the Church.
Myra graduated from Fairview High School in 1953, achieving All State Basketball honors numerous years. She also received a contract offer to play basketball for the Hazel Walker Redheads, the premier touring Professional Women’s Basketball Team.
Myra held various positions throughout her life including, working at Fort Polk, Calcasieu Marine National Bank in Oberlin, Owner/Operator of the Grant Grocery, and Postmaster in Grant.
She was an accomplished Pianist and Organist, and played for several churches over the period of 67 years, the majority of those being at Palestine Baptist Church.
Myra’s favorite activities included, gardening with her husband J.C., playing the Piano, and hosting family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by: Her Father James (Jim) Clanton and Her Mother Minnie Sigler Clanton
Those left to cherish her memory are Her Husband of 63 Years: J.C. Thibodeaux of Grant, LA., her Children; Gary Thibodeaux and his wife Kathleen of Orange, TX., Brent Thibodeaux and his wife Erin of Baton Rouge, LA., Ginger Perry and her husband Kevin of Moss Bluff, LA., Her Brother: Larry Clanton of Baton Rouge, LA., Her Sister: Emily Clanton of DeRidder, La.; Four Grandchildren: Laura Thibodeaux Pace and her Husband Ryan of Colorado Springs, CO., Jordan Thibodeaux of Beaumont, TX., Garrett Perry of Moss Bluff, LA., and Trent Perry of Moss Bluff, LA., Three Step Grandchildren: Nathaniel, Hannah, and Ashley all of Baton Rouge, LA., Two Great Grandchildren: Gavin Patrick Pace and Jackson Gabriel Pace both of Colorado Springs, CO.
In Lieu of Flowers the family would request that you make donations to the Palestine Baptist Church in Grant, LA in Myra’s name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles for the wonderful and loving care given to Mrs. Myra during her brief stay.
