Michael Salpietra's Obituary
Funeral service for Michael (Mule) Salpietra, 55, of Pitkin, will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. John Elliott and Joe Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the Funeral Home.
On Friday, September 4, 2020 Michael (Mule) Salpietra passed away after a long and brave struggle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge. Michael served in the United States Army as a medical specialist during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
He enjoyed working in the oil industry for many years as safety coordinator for Total Safety.
Michael is preceded in death by his father SGM John Salpietra (Ret)
He is survived by his wife Shelia Shirley Salpietra; daughter Sarah Salpietra; son Christopher Brister (Nicki); mother Carolyn Salpietra; brother Paul Salpietra (Patricia); sister Dominica Watson (Erik) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Brister, Tanner Johnson, Kerry Caballero, Doug Buras, Jimmy Buras, and Maria Salpietra.
