Michael Jackson Parker's Obituary
Michael Jackson Parker, 65, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon after courageously battling cancer for many years.
Michael was born on May 5, 1951, to Clyde and Shirley Parker. He was a lifelong resident of Ragley, La., where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood and leather crafts and cooking. Mr. Parker was an operator at Citgo Refinery before retiring after 33 years of service. In all aspects of his life, Michael strived to honor Jesus Christ, whom he served faithfully through many ministries of the church such as in music, youth, Sunday school and as a deacon. He also had a passion for missions and shared his faith boldly each day of his life. Mr. Parker also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his buddy, Latte.
Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Parker of Ragley, La.; two sons, Jonathan Parker and wife Ashley of Ragley, La., and Benjamin Parker of Ragley and girlfriend Bethany McGee of Jennings, La.; one daughter, Elisabeth Mancil and husband Johnny of DeRidder, La.; one granddaughter, Caroline Parker; one brother, Davis Parker of Ragley, La.; niece, Jennifer Dubose; and nephew, Jason Parker, both of Ragley, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Shirley Parker; sister-in-law ,Delores Parker; and two grandbabies.
Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Longville on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will also be held at First Baptist Church of Longville Friday, June 17, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 9 a.m. until the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Helping Hands ministry of First Baptist Church of Longville.
