Mervin C Averitt's Obituary
Funeral services for Mervin C. Averitt, 73, of Anacoco will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2009 at Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church in Hornbeck. With Rev. Nick Hilton, Rev. Buddy Airhart and Bro Randall Bryan officiating. The burial will follow in the Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12 noon Thursday, Jan 8th, until service time Friday, Jan 9th, in the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, Louisiana.
Mervin passed away, Tuesday Jan 6th, in his residence in Anacoco. He was born in Hornbeck and was the son of Grover and Georgia Brown Averitt. Along with his wife Mervin owned and operated Anacoco Mercantile for 38 years, through those years they made many friends and truly enjoyed working with the public. He was a great husband, dad and grandpa. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steve A. Averitt; grandson, Benjamin Averitt, brothers, Bennie, Artie and Duncan Averitt; sister, Virginia (Gelea) Dow.
Mervin is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda Averitt of Anacoco; daughters, Brenda (husband, Jock) Eusay of Pittsburg, TX and Shelly (husband, James) Airhart of Anacoco, LA; Grandchildren, Jason (wife, Crista) Airhart of Anacoco, Heather (husband, Blake) Frederick of Anacoco, LA and Kristen & Christopher Eusay of Pittsburg, TX, JJ Eusay of Dallas, TX., Danica Eusay of San Antonio, TX, Jesse (wife, Dawn) Eusay of Pittsburg,TX.;greatgrandchild Summer Eusay; Sisters, Bernice (husband, Jess) Cason of Gainesville, TX and Clarice Link of Jasper, TX. and numerous nieces & nephews.
Mervin also has some “Best Buddies” – Spike, Squirt, Ladybug, Isabelle, Toto, Tiger and Toby.
