Melvin Hicks' Obituary
Funeral services for Melvin Hicks, 81, of Leesville will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Anacoco with Bro. D.R. Davis & Bro. Wallace Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., Monday, February 4th, and from 9 am until service time Tuesday at the Church.
Melvin was born December 31, 1931 in Leesville Louisiana to James & Mary Rivers Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a lifelong resident, Entrepreneur, and Businessman in Vernon Parish. He loved helping people and worked to try and find ways to help someone. He served his country in the U.S. Army. His favorite things in life were car racing and his family, whom he loved beyond measure.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death, exactly 11 years to the day, by his wife Elizabeth. He was also preceded by two infant sons, His parents, and a brother James Arleigh Hicks
Melvin is survived by: His Daughter and Son-in-law: Sheila & Randell Langton of Leesville, La.; A Very Special Friend: Carolyn Fields of Anacoco; Two Brothers: Travis & Bonnie Hicks of Leesville; Sherman & Billie Nell Hicks of Lake Charles, La.; Two Sisters: Janis & Tom Knapp of Leesville, and Ann & Jim Partington of Altus, Ok.; Three Grandchildren: Leila & Jonathon Pollard, Shana & Scooter Pollock, and Jarrett Isgitt; One Great Grandson on the way: Noah Pollard; & a host of other family and many friends.
In Lieu of Flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
