Maxie Ann Hauser Sonnier's Obituary
Funeral service for Maxie Ann Sonnier, 68, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Broadlands Bible Church, 6423 Highway 171, DeRidder, LA, (337-462-0257). Jason Dripps will officiate. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder and Sunday, March 9, 2014, 1:00 PM at the church.
Maxie was born on Friday, October 19, 1945, to Albert and Chrystal Schutz Hauser in DeRidder, LA and reared on Hauser Road in Beauregard Parish. She lived in Opelousas, LA for seventeen years then returning to Hauser Road in 1992. She was a graduate of Longville High School where she was active in sports and a leader in other student activities. She was a graduate of McNeese State University with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science. Most of her life was spent as a house wife and as a church and community volunteer. Maxie was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from 1995 until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, turkey hunting and all events with her grandchildren. She passed from this life on Thursday, March 6, 2014, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James Kerney Sonnier of DeRidder, LA; son, Jason Dripps and wife Alma of Summit, MS; daughters, Jennifer Stanford of Ferriday, LA, Julie Bellard and husband Nick of Church Point, LA, Jessica Sonnier of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Ray Hauser of DeRidder, LA; sister, Dana Hauser of Lake Charles, LA; 6 grandchildren, Kirstie Bieber, Lane and MacKenzie Stanford, August, Emery and Georgia Bellard. Maxie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Eugene Dripps and stepson, Everett Sonnier.
