Mary Nelda Roberts' Obituary
One of the Lord’s most precious students and believers has joined Him in Heaven.
Funeral services for Mary Nelda Roberts, 85, of Hornbeck will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10 am at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Jerry Key and Rev Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery, in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Friday, August 4, 2017, from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Nelda, the daughter of James Monroe and Lena Marcus Sanders, was born on December 2, 1931, in Anacoco. She passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Leesville, Louisiana. She was preceded in the death by her parents, sibling twins, brother, Marcus Sanders and grandson, Tyler Cristopher LeCroy.
Nelda graduated from Anacoco High School and was an Allstate Basketball Player and MVP her senior year. She loved fishing, gardening, was a great decorator and an excellent cook. Nelda’s home was always open to her family and friends and she had a unique way of making the Holiday Seasons extra special. Nelda lived to see five generations of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Worth Roberts of Hornbeck; Children; daughters, Sheryl (husband, Teddie) Dowden of Leesville, Vicki Chance of Leesville, Keith (wife, Beverly) Chance of Leesville, Angela (husband, Frank) Van Alstyne of Anacoco and Beth (husband, Grant) Westerchil of Anacoco; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also had an exchange student who spent one year with her family, Ville Veikkolainen, of Finland, whom she considered a son.
