Mary Eleanor Lightsey's Obituary
A Celebration of Life service for Mary Eleanor Lightsey, 83 of Anacoco will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in the First Baptist Church of Anacoco with Reverends Sammy Stockman, Douglas Downs and Chad King officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service in the church.
Mary Eleanor Lightsey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on September 11th, 2024 in Hornbeck, Louisiana. She was born on November 17th, 1940 in Newnan, Georgia to her loving parents, Victor and Mary Fugier who instilled in her the values of faith and compassion.
Eleanor was a faithful member of Anacoco First Baptist Church. Her devotion to her church family was unwavering. She had a servant's heart and shared her love for God with everyone around her.
Her passion for cooking brought joy to many as she prepared meals that not only nourished the body but also warmed the soul. Eleanor's kitchen was always filled with laughter and love as she shared her home cooked meals with those she held dear.
As a caretaker by nature, Eleanor dedicated herself to nurturing others. Her selfless acts of kindness touched countless lives as she provided comfort and support to those in need. Eleanor’s generosity knew no bounds.
Above all else, Eleanor cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her family was blessed to have such an extraordinary woman whose love knew no limits. The bond between “Mammie” and her grandchildren ran deep; they were truly the lights of her life. Watching them grow brought immeasurable joy into Eleanor’s world. In recent years, the arrival of great-grandchildren added even more happiness to her life. She adored them dearly and treasured every moment spent showering them with affection.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Victor and Mary Fugier; her husband: Fred Lightsey; brothers: Russell Fugier, Kenny Fugier, Edward Fugier; sister-in-law: Barbara Fugier.
Left to cherish her memory is her son: Michael Lightsey and wife Amy of Hornbeck; grandchildren: Gavin Lightsey and wife Faith of Hardy Arkansas, Noah Lightsey and Jayme French of Hornbeck, Eden Lightsey of Hornbeck, Ryleigh Hilton of Hornbeck; great grandchildren: Stetson Lightsey, Oaklynn Lightsey; niece: Stephanie Wray and a host of family and friends.
Eleanor will be remembered for her unwavering strength during difficult times; for being a beacon of hope when darkness loomed; for being someone who could always be counted on when times were tough; for being an example of grace under pressure; but most importantly - for being someone who loved deeply without reservation or hesitation.
She leaves behind memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Though we mourn our loss today may we find comfort knowing that she is home in Heaven and reunited with the love of her life, Fred Lightsey.
