Mary Jackson Johnson's Obituary
Funeral services for Mary Jackson Johnson, 76, of Leesville, LA will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville, with Rev. Harrison Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 7th from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and on Saturday, May 8th from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Mary, the daughter of Robert and Lorene Bailey Jackson was born on March 24, 1934, in Marshall, Texas. She passed away on May 3, 2010, at the Deer Creek Hospital in Leesville, Louisiana. She grew up and attended the schools of Sabine Parish; at early age she was affiliated with Macedonia Baptist Church in Zwolle and later with New Willow Baptist Church. After traveling with her husband in the United States Navy she returned to Leesville and worked for 20 plus years at the Woodlands (formerly known as Kurthwood Manor). She was hardworking and a devoted worker on her job and in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters, including her fraternal twin, Martha.
Those left to cherish her legacy of hard work, integrity and uprightness are: three sons Robert William, Orlando, FL; Oscar Carl, Covington, KY and Charles James, Leesville, LA. Two daughters Mrs. Faith Elaine Johnson-Smith, Leesville, LA and Ms. Bridget Ann Johnson, San Diego, CA ; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Lucille Perry, Zwolle, LA; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Dow, Clarksville, TN and Howard Perry, Zwolle, LA; also, one great aunt; Mrs. Lucille Roberson, Vowels Mills, LA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
