Mary Lou Jantz's Obituary
With loving hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Lou Simmons Jantz, who entered her eternal home on May 30, 2026, at the age of 91.
Mary Lou was born on March 26, 1935, and lived a life marked by faith, service, kindness, and devotion to her family. She spent 20 years as a school teacher, touching the lives of countless students through her patience, wisdom, and dedication to education. Mary Lou had a servant's heart and was known for her generous spirit, selflessness, and ability to uplift those around her. She deeply loved her family, her church family, working puzzles, and tending to her garden.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Jantz; her daughter, Marlanea Cooley; her grandson, Andrew Cronce; and her parents, Eldridge Simmons and Verda Simmons.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever: her son, Shannon Jantz and wife Peggy of DeRidder, Louisiana; her daughter, Kelly Cronce and husband Joe of DeRidder, Louisiana; and her son-in-law, Byron Cooley and wife Tonia of DeRidder, Louisiana.
She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Matthew Jantz and wife Annie, Brandon Jantz and wife Sarah, Kade Jantz, Kayley Dykes and husband Jamie, Chance Gilmer and husband Ethan, Chase Williams and husband Tyler, and Kirby Cooley and wife Samantha. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in each of their lives and accomplishments.
Mary Lou's life was a beautiful example of faith, love, and compassion. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her influence and love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and expressions of sympathy during this time.
All Services will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation and Funeral will be on June 04, 2026 with Visitation from 8am-10am and Funeral to start at 10am. Burial will follow directly after at Beauregard Cemetery.
