Mary Lee Drain's Obituary
Funeral services for Mary Lee Drain, 82, of Leesville, LA will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Greater Bethel AME Church in Leesville. Rev. Joe Green, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Leesville Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 2nd from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mary Lee Tinsley was born in Hutton, LA on April 8, 1927, to Floyd and Loraine Tinsley. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Byrd Regional Hospital.
She became a member of Greater Bethel AME Church in 1942, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Mary Lee loved the Lord and her church. She was a loyal servant in many ministries, including Trustee and Steward, Class Leader #2, Choir Treasurer, Missionary Society, President of the Pastor’s Aide, and Member of the Lay Organization.
Mary Lee was affectionately known in the community as a great baker. She was passionate about cooking and found pleasure in preparing her wonderful desserts, sweet potato, pecan and coconut pies, for others to indulge and enjoy. She gained energy from the many request for her special delicacies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Drain, Sr. and one son, James Keith Drain.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Donald Drain (Peggie), of Springfield VA: Joe Lee Drain, Jr., of Pikeville, TN, & Willie Drain (Brenda) of Leesville, LA; four daughters, Loraine Arbo (Brently) of Redstone Arsenal, AL, Shelia Carr (Albert) of Houston,TX, Floydia Gail Mitchell (William) of Baton Rouge, LA & Stephanie Pickney of Stone Mountain, GA; seven grandchildren, Anthony Arbo, William Mitchell, IV, Joseph Mitchell, Willie Drain, Jr., Kevin Carr, Samantha Drain and Travis Mitchell; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Arbo, Jamauria Mitchell, Naysia D. Mallard, Kaden Drain and Skyar Drain; God-children, Edna Mae Hall (Les) and Yolanda Faye Ming(Robert); four siblings, Floydia Mae Tinsley, her devoted sister and best friend, Aline Johnson, Nellie Francis (Gene) and John Tinsley (Josie) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
