Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Doherty Powell, 80, of Simpson, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Welcome Cemetery in Simpson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 11:00a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Powell was born on December 8, 1938 in New Orleans, LA. She passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Ward and Francis Lorraine Ogle Doherty; Her Husband: Bobby Howard Powell; Her Daughter: Linda Joyce Powell; Two Brothers and Two Sisters.
She is survived by her Son: Howard Powell Jr., of Simpson; Her Daughters: Pat Jackson & Husband Robert of Temple; and Karen Lemons of Simpson; Three Brothers: Louis Doherty & wife Tricia of White Oak, TX, Rodney Doherty & wife Anita of Houston, TX, and Keith Doherty of Simpson; Three Sisters: Sarah George of Center, TX, Doris George & husband Burley of Flatwoods, and Carolyn Kelley of Houston, TX. Her Grandchildren: Ramona Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jr., Timothy Jackson, Lewis Jennings, Ronald Jennings “Bit”, Sheri Nibarger, Bobby Powell, Christopher Stewart; 14 Great Grandchildren.
