Mary Thelma Davis Wingate, 84, of DeRidder, LA, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011, in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 1 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Ministers officiating will be Rev. George Lee Glass and Rev. Joey Rudisell. Interment will follow at Marlow Cemetery in Cravens, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, from 12 noon until 9 P.M. and Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of the service, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA.
Thelma was born on August 12, 1926, in Many, LA to Chester Colistus Davis and Nancy Missouri Bass Davis. She was a native of Many, LA and lived most of her life in Cravens, LA. She was a head cashier-manager at the Air Force Exchange, England AFB of Alexandria and also at the Post Exchange, Fort Polk, LA. She was a member of Marlow Baptist Church where she was a very active member and she was a pillar of her community. She loved and she was loved by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Obie Sears Wingate of DeRidder, LA; one son, Landry Reid Wingate and wife Kittie Cunningham Wingate of Marlow Community, LA; two daughters, Mary Virginia W. Wingate of DeRidder, LA and Diana Wingate Hickman and husband James L. Hickman of Hemphill, LA; one sister, Mikie Perkins of Leesville, LA; nine randchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
