Mary Marie Copenhaver Hines Prather, 94, of DeRidder, LA, entered peacefully into rest on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in DeRidder, LA. Mary, the daughter of George E. and Susan (Eden) Copenhaver was born on June 8, 1926, in Colorado.
Visitation will begin Friday, October 16, 2020, from 11:00 AM until Funeral Service begins at 2:00 PM, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA with Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, DeRidder, LA.
Mary volunteered as a nursing home singer and at the Food Box and various other local charities. She was a lifelong member of various Southern Baptist churches in the DeRidder, Louisiana area, presently a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She went on many missionary trips including Honduras, Mexico and China. She served as an instructor at the Dry Creek Baptist Encampment. Mary was an avid flower, fruits, and vegetable gardener, sharing many flowers with family and her community.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Robin Shirley Bedgood and husband James of DeRidder, LA, Cara Shirley and husband Clay of Silsbee, TX, Leigh Shirley Richmond and husband Wilkie of Ashland, WI; and great grandchildren, Dalton Andrepont, Derek Andrepont and wife Leisha, Ben Richmond and wife Kate, Collin Richmond, Brett Richmond, and Carley Gilchriest, also one great-great grandson, Archer Andrepont.
Preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, Jack D. Hines, two children, Roger D. Hines, Henda Hines Shirley; second husband, Richard Prather; and brother, Donald Copenhaver.
