Mary attended Christian Living Fellowship Church in Leesville, LA and was active in community service activities. She was a 1975 graduate of Leesville High School and was a member of the LHS Alumni Association.
She worked in Federal Civil Service for over 38 years. Before retiring in December 2012, Mary was the Director of Logistics (DOL) for 4 years in Fort Wainwright, AK. She served in other capacities of her career as a Logistics Management Specialist, Deputy DOL, and Supply Management Officer while at USAG Humphreys in Korea. While working in Civil Service at Fort Polk, LA, Mary worked in DOL as a Supply Management Officer, Supervisory Supply Management Specialist, and a Supply Technician. Mary received many awards and recognition for her work. She was a recipient of the IMCOM Stalwart Award in Korea in 2007, and she was certified as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. After retiring, Mary worked briefly at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital in Logistics. Besides being a Civil Service worker, Mary was also a Notary Public and worked many elections in Vernon Parish as the Commissioner in Charge.
Work ethic, intelligence, and tenacity were notable characteristics of Mary, and she had a successful career. However, family was first to Mary, so she enjoyed anything that involved spending time with them. She loved and supported her children, grandchildren, and nieces & nephews in all their sports, academic endeavors, and later career pursuits. Mary was competitive in nature, and she loved to cook so she enjoyed watching competitive cooking shows. She also liked to travel and compete in cooking contests. Her most recent was Build a Better Burger Contest sponsored by Sutter Home where she was representing Louisiana at the regional level in Colorado. Everyone who knew Mary understood that she knew how to have a good time and enjoyed karaoke and traveling. She made many trips “down South” and to Las Vegas with family.
