Marvin H. Perry's Obituary
Marvin passed away March 2, 2018. He was born in Brecksville, Ohio on September 12, 1929. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Perry; mother, Katherine Koch Perry; and brother, Melvin. Marvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara, sons Randall of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott of Alvin, Texas, two grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; his sisters, Hazel of Bristol, Tennessee; Grace of Eugene, Oregon. He served in the military during the Korean conflict. After being discharged from the Army he attended college in Lafayette, Louisiana, receiving degrees in Physics and Mathematics. He worked for General Dynamics as a Physicist for five years before going to Marshall Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama. After three years, Marvin was transferred to the Manned Space Center in Houston, Texas, which later became Johnson Space Center where he continued his work as a Physicist. He retired from NASA in 1980. After retirement he taught Physics and Calculus in secondary schools in Louisiana and Texas. He was named “Favorite Teacher” in Leesville, Louisiana, and “Teacher of the Year” in Newton, Texas, 2002-2003.
