Marshall C. Helton's Obituary
Funeral services for Marshall C. Helton, 77, of Slagle, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle with Rev. Terry Ward and Rev. Lewis Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9th from 3 pm – 10 pm, then Wednesday July 10th from 8 am until service time in the church.
Marshall passed away Sunday, July 7th at his residence in Slagle.
He retired from the US Army as an E-8 after 22 years; he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. He then worked 18 years for the D. O. L. at Fort Polk as a heavy equipment mechanic. After his retirement he worked on small engines, it was known in the Slagle community that if you needed it fixed, Marshall could do it. Marshall also coached little league baseball for many years.
He was preceded in death by the parents, grandparents, his first wife Ruth Helton and his great grandson, Nathan Thomas Helton.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Rita Helton; sons, Boyd A. Helton, James Helton and wife, Nancy and Rodney Helton and wife, Kimberly; Five grandchildren Taylor Helton, Ty Helton, Jacob Helton, Conner Helton and Kaycie Helton all of Slagle and his extended family in North Carolina.
