Marlene Joyce Niette's Obituary
June 1, 1959 - April 28, 2026
Marlene Joyce Niette was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She entered her eternal rest on April 28, 2026 at the age of 66.
She will be remembered as a kind-hearted, selfless woman whose greatest joy in life was her family and serving others. Marlene had a deep love for the simple things - her faith in God, fishing, camping, cooking meals large enough to feed an army, and listening to music of all genres. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family any chance possible; especially if that involved fishing on a creek bank. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness. Marlene never missed an opportunity to make those around her feel loved and wanted. She was a giver by nature; never turning away anyone whose life she could make a little better or a little easier. She carried a light that was impossible to miss. Her radiant smile could brighten the darkest day; her infectious laugh could be heard all through the house and would make anyone smile who was close enough to hear. Marlene had a faith in God and a quiet strength that anchored her life and inspired everyone who knew her. She was Pentecostal by faith for almost 35 years and was always looking for ways to volunteer; to help make someone’s life brighter and reflect the love of God.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband, Terry Niette of Leesville; her four sons - Jason Savage (Heather) of Pineville, Louisiana; Brandon W. Savage (Debbie) of DeRidder, Louisiana; Jonathan R. Savage (Chelsea) of DeRidder, Louisiana; and Elvin W. Savage of Rosepine, Louisiana; and one daughter - Kristy K. Ozment (Joseph) of Leesville, Louisiana. Marlene also leaves behind her brothers; Ronald Dickens of Pitkin, Louisiana; Homer Dickens of Oberlin, Louisiana; Michael Scott Dickens of Ohio, Johnny Buxton of Oakdale, Louisiana; and Leo D. Buxton of Oberlin, Louisiana; and her sisters; Charlotte Rose Buxton of Elizabeth, Louisiana; Jackie Cudd of Elizabeth, Louisiana; and Barbara Townley of Texas.
Marlene was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many extended family members and extended grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Dickens and Betty Buxton; her brother, Tony Dickens; and her infant sister, Cristy Klarice Dickens.
Marlene’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May she rest in peace until we meet again on the other side.
