Marlanea Jantz Cooley's Obituary
Funeral services for Marlanea Jantz Cooley, 49, of DeRidder, LA, will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Friendship Baptist Church, DeRidder, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Pool, Rev. John Gray and Rev. Lindsey Burns. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA and Thursday, 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
Marlanea was born on December 27, 1963, to Eugene Wayne Jantz and Mary Lou Simmons Jantz in DeRidder, LA, where she lived all of her life. She graduated from DeRidder High School in 1982, and received her Bachelors and Masters’ Degree of Education from McNeese State University. She taught at Rosepine Elementary for 20 years. Marlanea retired as an Elementary School Teacher with the Vernon Parish School Board. She was a faithful member and Children’s Director of Friendship Baptist Church of DeRidder, LA. She was loved and respected as a Sunday School Teacher. Marlanea passed from this life on April 22, 2013, in DeRidder, LA.
Survivors include her husband, married 18 years, Byron Cooley and one son Kirby Cooley of DeRidder, LA; one brother, Shannon Jantz and wife Peggy of DeRidder, LA; one sister, Kelly Cronce and husband Joe of DeRidder, LA; her parents, Eugene and Mary Lou Jantz of DeRidder, LA; and many nieces and nephews whose walk with the Lord has been greatly influenced by her willingness to share God’s word with each of them. Marlanea’s sweet spirit and dedication to her family and friends are the legacies of her life. A special thanks to Dr. Thomas Dobbins, Dr. Michael Bergeron, the staff of Beauregard Memorial Hospital and Southern Hospice Care. The family request donations be made to Dry Creek Baptist Encampment in Dry Creek, LA.
