Markel Jackson's Obituary
Markel Jackson, 67, entered into rest on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born on July 7, 1953 in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Temple Baptist Church located at 122 Martin Luther King Drive in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services will be Friday, October 30, 2020, visitation will start at 9:00 AM and service will begin at 10:00 AM, at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff James officiating. Interment will follow at the John C White Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana. Services under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, Louisiana.
Markel was a master mechanic by trade. He knew how to fix mostly anything, but if he did not, he would figure it out one way or another. He was a family man and a family farmer. He loved his family with all his heart no matter what, he especially loved spoiling his grandkids and his great-grandkids.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Markel Brian Jackson of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Lisa Michelle Simpson (Steven) of DeRidder, LA and Stacey Nicole Elser (Lonnie) of Rosepine, LA; sisters, Nedeline J. Brown of Sterlington, LA and Anita Kay Griffin (Ricky) of Rosepine, LA; grandchildren, Brody Louis Jackson (Alyson), Cassidy Morgan LeBleu (Austin), Tanner Joseph Simpson (Lexie), Allee Claire Simpson, Christian Seth Rushing, Dakota Michael Rushing (Rachel), Autumn Elizabeth Rushing, Chase Mitchell Blanchard, Laira Nicole Elser (Hayden) and Mallory Lynn Rushing; great-grandchildren, Tate Louis Jackson, Vera Kate LeBleu, Kendal Ryan Simpson, Henlee Klaire Johnson, Maverick Wade Rushing and Sunny Marie Rushing as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loved ones; father, Ernest Jackson; mother, Dora Mae Cryer; brothers, Mike Jackson, Thomas Jackson and James Jackson; sisters, Evealine Jackson and Zelta Glasgow (Arvon).
Those honored to serve, as pallbearers will be Brian Jackson, Brody Jackson, Tanner Simpson, Chase Blanchard, Christian Rushing, Dakota Rushing, Mickael Jackson, Christopher Griffin and Austin LeBleu.
