Mario Sorce's Obituary
Funeral services for Mario Joseph Sorce, 69, of Leesville, will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, March 6, 2020 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Mario Joseph Sorce, loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 69. Mario was born on December, 21, 1950 in Caltanissetta, Sicily. He immigrated to America as a child in 1960 via his adoptive parents, Ross and Filomena (Lumia) Sorce. He served 10 years in the United States Army after high school. On September 22, 1972, he married Myong Shin, in Seoul, South Korea. Together they raised two daughters, Phyllis and Mary. Following his retirement from the Army in 1977, he began his career as a civil servant for the Department of Defense, in various capacities, serving as a logistics readiness specialist at the time of his death.
Mario had a passion for service, being actively involved in organizations including, but not limited to, the Rotary Club, the American Legion, and the Forty and Eight. He lived his life in service to others to the day he died. He was known for his compassion and willingness to help those in need. His kind heart and ready smile will be missed.
Mario was preceded in death by his father, Ross, and his mother, Filomena.
He is survived by his wife, Myong, and his two children, Phyllis and Mary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
