Lutherine Talbert Matthis' Obituary
Lutherine Talbert Matthis passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Carrollton, TX. She was born on January 29, 1924, on a family farm near DeRidder, LA. She was predeceased by her parents, Elijah and Jennie Talbert, two sisters, Leona Caughlin and Loree Bond, and one brother, Elton Talbert. She is survived by her daughter, Terry and husband, Marc Stuart; 8 nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
She loved to share stories of life on the farm and the family she loved so much. She had many interests and talents including crafting, painting and gardening. For many years, she was an active member of University Methodist Church. Recently, she was blessed to reconnect with a friend from her early childhood after 80 years apart. In their last few years they developed a caring, loving, sharing friendship and enjoyed revisiting old times and making new times together. He predeceased her by 7 weeks.
There will be a Memorial Service at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA, on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 12:00 Noon followed by burial at the Talbert-Pierson Cemetery.
