Lurcy James "Shorty" Suire's Obituary
Funeral services for, Lurcy James “Shorty” Suire, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder with Rev. Dean Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. “Shorty” passed from this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in his residence. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 9 AM until 9 PM, and Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 12 PM until time of the service, all at the funeral home in DeRidder.
Mr. Suire was born on August 20, 1951, to Eddie Suire, Sr. and Gladys Marie Richard Suire in Abbeville, LA. He lived most of his life in DeRidder and was a retired crane operator for Rowen Drilling where he worked mostly offshore. He loved his family and was well known for his Beef Jerky. “Shorty” never met a stranger and helped anyone in need, and loved music. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Clarksville, TN.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Suire of DeRidder; son, Jimmy Suire and wife Robbie of DeRidder; daughters, Valerie Doporto and husband Alfonso of Clarksville, TN, and Evelyn Schuman and husband Jason of Ft. Lewis, WA; brother, Nelton Suire of DeRidder; sisters, Carolyn Williams and husband Jackie and Debbie Coody, both of DeRidder, and Sheila Suire of MA; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John Suire and Eddie Suire.
