LTC's Obituary
LTC (R) Benjamin Chambers, Jr., 81, died September 30, 2015, at his home at England Oaks Senior Community, Alexandria, LA, after a long illness. Mr. Chambers was born on February 1, 1934, in Baltimore Maryland. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Chambers, Sr., and his mother, Marguerite Johnson Chambers.
Mr. Chambers was a graduate from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA. He retired from the U. S. Army after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he owned and operated Century 21 Real Estate, Ben Chambers and Associates, in New Llano, LA, until his retirement in 1996. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Leesville and upon his retirement a member of Kiwanis of Vernon Club, Leesville.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Ruth, and three sons, Benjamin Chambers, III, (Kathy), Houston, TX, Daniel Chambers, III (Marsha), Shreveport, LA, Michael Shafer, Rosepine, LA, and three daughters, Holly Jones (Bruce) Monroe, LA, Susannah Coppola, Lubbock, TX and Toni Klug (Jon), Fort Leavenworth, KS. He is further survived by fifteen grandchildren.
His funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4th, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family request memorial contributions be made to Kiwanis of Vernon Club or Johnny Mac Soldiers Funds.
