Lovelace Joseph Adams' Obituary
Funeral services for Lovelace Adams will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11 am at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA.
Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2018 from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA.
Lovelace Joseph Adams Sr., known affectionately as “LJ” or “Love,” was a native of Erath, Louisiana, but a resident of Leesville, Louisiana. He was born on November 27, 1944 to Odeus Adams and Rita A. Adams. Following a lengthy illness, he departed this life at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in Deridder, Louisiana at 1:30 a.m. on May 6, 2018. He was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana.
At the age of 19, Lovelace joined the United States Army, where he served for 23 years as a master sergeant and a master mechanic. He retired from military service in 1987. Upon retirement, Lovelace worked as a civil servant for 20 years.
Lovelace enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing his guitar and drums. He also had a passion for hanging out and drinking Budweiser beer with his buddy, Martin Thomas.
Lovelace leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Marilyn Nelson Adams; one son, Lovelace Adams, Jr. of Tennessee; two daughters, TeKina Adams and Renika Adams, both of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Zae’Jhon Adams; three sisters, Doreatha A. Bob of Erath, Louisiana, Rosemary A. Bernard (Mitchell) of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Ada A. Williams (Harvey) of Jennings, Louisiana; one brother, Elton J. Adams (Barbara) of Abbeville, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, families and friends.
Lovelace was preceded in death by his parents, Odeus Adams and Rita A. Adams; one sister, Ella Mae Perro; and one brother-in-law, Abraham Bob.
