Lorene W. Manning's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorene W. Manning, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on December 3, 2025, in her hometown of Hornbeck, Louisiana. Born on September 13, 1932, Lorene graced the lives of many for over 93 remarkable years, embodying the virtues of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
Lorene was the cherished daughter of John Griffin and Esther Potter West. She grew up in a loving family and was preceded in death by her devoted parents, her husband of 72 years, Murphy Manning, and her siblings: brother J.W. West, and sisters Ernestine Flenniken, Myrtle Ross, and Novella Sanders and grandson Chad.
Throughout her life, Lorene was a pillar of support and love for her family. She is survived by her three daughters: Beverly Diana Prewitt (Benjamin), Vicki Lynn Martin (Ronnie), and Connie Deavers, all of Hornbeck, LA. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Johnnie Weldon, and a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Duane (Mitzi), Karen (Don), Scotty, Toddy (Julie), Ron (Brandy), and Willis, along with numerous cherished great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Lorene was a devoted Christian whose faith was evident in every aspect of her life. She embodied the qualities of a caring and loving mother and was known for her hard work and strong spirit. As long as her health allowed, she served her church and community with dedication, always the first to lend a helping hand whenever the doors of her church opened. Her life was a testament to her commitment to service, not only to her family but to her faith in Jesus and her church. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church for over 40 years.
While Lorene was a woman of many talents, it was her unwavering love for her family that defined her. She took pride in caring for her loved ones and instilled the values of love, hard work, and faith in all those she touched. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude's in her honor, continuing her legacy of caring for others.
Graveside service celebrating Lorene's remarkable life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Michael Lightsey officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Lorene W. Manning will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
