Linzy L.V. Smith's Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Linzy Velt (L.V.) smith will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007 in the Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Leesville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Linzy Smith (LV) was the first born to Ardis Rock and the late Herman Smith on August 27, 1939 in Leesville, Louisiana. Being that his father was in the U.S. Army, they moved back and forth.
Linzy received his education in Chicago, Illinois where he spent part of his childhood. Upon returning to Louisiana he started his secondary education. Prior to beginning his quest in life, LV stayed in the kitchen with his mother which made it easy for him to master the skills of Culinary Art. LV was boss in the kitchen.
LV moved to San Diego, California in the early 1980’s which became his second home. LV furthered his education while in California by enrolling in the School of Ministry to become and ordained Minister. He accepted Christ in his life before he went home to be with the Lord.
LV was a strong and brave man full of hope suffering with Lung Cancer. He underwent three cycles of Chemotherapy, which failed, and during the fourth attempt the Sweet Lord called him home on October 25 at 4:45 PM at San Diego Hospice in California.
LV will always be remembered for his animated and amazing stories accompanied with a big bright smile. Those privileged to know him are not likely to forget the generosity and the love he showed toward others. LV was always willing to help others. He will be GREATLY missed.
LV is survived by his mother, Ardis Rock Wilson; Four Brothers: Vandell Smith of Jena, La., Leroy Zeno Jr., Clifford D. Zeno and Eddie C. Zeno of Leesville, La.; Five Sisters: Barbara (Willie) Williams of Fort Stewart, GA., Joanne Carson (Jeffery) of Marietta, GA, Bobbie (John) Cole of Leesville, LA., Dorothy M. Zeno of Leesville, La, and Joyce L. Atwater of Natchitoches, La; One Uncle: Sylvester Rock of Leesville, LA.; Thirty Three Nieces and Nephews and Forty Eight Great Nieces and Nephews and a host of other family and friends.
