Linda Sue Spiridon's Obituary
Linda Sue Spiridon was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 7,1949 to Helbert William Lyde, Sr. and Lucille Marie Horn. Linda graduated from Susan B. Miller Dorsey High School, Class of 1967. As a child growing up in Los Angeles Linda was very passionate, strong-willed, tough, and adventuress. She had a love for animals, reading and spending time with her family and friends. All of these caused Linda to never settle for anything but the best. Linda was always willing to try new and different things which led her to have many interests and hobbies later in life.
Linda showed her adventurous side by becoming a go cart enthusiast and later joining a car club as a street racer having her own car named the Apache Raider. She was one of the few women who could drop and work on her own engine in a flash. Linda also loved horses and enjoyed riding them at a stable during the summer whenever she had the opportunity. She enjoyed the water and became a strong swimmer.
Linda's thirst for knowledge developed into a love for reading and she would always have a book nearby. She developed a love for the arts, listening to classical music, enjoying museums, artwork and more. Her love of various music genres ranged from Barbara Streisand to Motown. You could catch her dancing and singing to them all.
Linda’s inner and outer beauty was evident to all that met her. She modeled, was a Debutante, and a beauty queen, entering the Miss Northern California pageant. A social butterfly, Linda made a lot of friends and knew how to party. In pure Linda style, she and her lifelong best friend didn’t just party with high school friends. They partied with another close friend, Red Fox’s daughter, in the Palisades, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas.
After high school, Linda married Charles A. White Jr. and started a family. She had four children that will miss her greatly; Ronnie, Paula, Kimberly, and Jared. While being a devoted mother, she also began her lifelong career in accounting and payroll. Linda’s love of animals was shown through her pets; Midnight, Max, Coco and Frankie, who were always by her side.
Later in life, she met and married Dan Spiridon. The two of them shared a passion for traveling and scuba diving. Linda and Dan were also huge gun enthusiasts. While Dan was enlisted as a soldier in the US ARMY, they received orders to report to Fort Polk, Louisiana. While there, they moved to DeRidder, Louisiana and made it their forever home.
Linda had a multitude of hobbies. She enjoyed gaming, even before it was a thing. She also enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, painting by numbers, cooking, bingo, and more. Her real passion was shopping. She could out shop the best of them.
Linda worked at PRIDE Industries on post for 10 years as the Payroll Administrator. Due to her strong work ethic, her level of dedication was unmatched. Linda would rarely miss a day of work and was always willing to help her fellow coworkers. She was a momma to many, but at the same time she was tough as nails. Linda worked up until the day she went into ICU.
The friendships she made while residing in Louisiana will truly last a lifetime. She is survived by her three daughters, Ronnie R. Marquez, Paula Yvonne Thomas, Kimberly Marie Godfrey and her son Jared Martin Brown. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her sister, Leslie Stevens and a host of family and friends in California that will forever keep her in their hearts. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Helbert William Lyde, Sr., her mother, Lucille Marie Horn, her brother, Helbert William Lyde Jr., and her husband of 27 years Dan Spiridon, whom she will be laid to rest with at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Ft. Polk, Louisiana.
